It integrates four data lanes in each direction with each lane operating at 10.3125 Gbps, giving an aggregated bandwidth of 40 Gbps. These modules support 4x10G InfiniBand (IB) quadruple data rate (40G-IB-QDR) application and is backward compatible to the 4x5G IB dual data rate (20G-IB-DDR) and 4x2.5G IB single data rate (10G-IB-SDR) applications as well.

      The Avago AFBR-79EBPZ is a 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40G) bidirectional (BiDi) multimode fiber (MMF) QSFP+ transceiver module designed for high-speed data center interconnect and enterprise networking applications. Based on proprietary 2x20G BiDi optics, the module enables four Tx and four Rx 10G electrical data lanes to transmit over a 2-fiber LC duplex cable, providing a cost-effective upgrade path from 10G to 40G Ethernet leveraging existing 10G MMF cabling infrastructure.

 The AFBR-79EBPZ supports 40G data transfer over 100 meters of OM3 fiber or 150 meters of OM4 fiber. The module is compliant to 40G XLPPI electrical specification per IEEE 802.3ba-2010 and QSFP+ SFF-8436 specification.
